Groupage Transport to Norway Handled via the Digitoll System

At the beginning of 2026, DACHSER began implementing the Digitoll system for all groupage shipments to Norway. In doing so, the company has become the first operator in the country to fully roll out this solution.

DACHSER Norway is responding to customer needs by simplifying the customs process as much as possible. All formalities are completed before crossing the Norwegian border.

Digitoll is one of the largest digitalisation projects in the history of the Norwegian customs administration. Its objective is to transform the way all imports into Norway are handled. The transition to the new system will be challenging for many market participants. For this reason, DACHSER opted for early implementation to ensure stability across the entire supply chain.

All customs information is transmitted and processed before DACHSER vehicles reach the border. This means that goods are already customs-cleared and released for circulation at the moment of border crossing, eliminating the need for customers to handle clearance afterwards. The result is improved cargo flow. This demonstrates that DACHSER has already mastered the Digitoll system, even while it remains in the development phase.

Full Implementation of Digitoll

The introduction of Digitoll is not yet mandatory for all market participants, but by implementing it early we have gained valuable hands-on experience in daily operations. This ensures stable and predictable customs processes in groupage transport, even during the transitional phase, which may be very demanding for many companies in the industry. For customers, this means safer cargo flow, fewer surprises and deliveries carried out according to plan. Goods can be used immediately upon delivery, as they are already customs-cleared at the time of border crossing.

– says Benjamin Fjellheim, Sales Manager at DACHSER Norway.

DACHSER Norway has implemented Digitoll on a full scale well ahead of schedule, as the final deadline for mandatory adoption is 1 March 2027. When Digitoll becomes compulsory for the entire market, DACHSER will already have extensive operational experience with the system.

At DACHSER, we are building one of the most integrated logistics networks in the world. As a global operator, we set standards and promote best industry practices. That is why we plan individual implementations well in advance to maintain maximum supply chain efficiency and service quality. The pioneering rollout in the Norwegian market is a model example of an appropriate response to changing regulations and proof of our readiness to meet challenges emerging in various regions within DACHSER’s global footprint. For customers, this primarily means process predictability and confidence that their supply chains remain stable, efficient and secure.

– comments Dariusz Walo, Customs Manager at DACHSER Polska.
