The PKP CARGO Capital Group, the leading rail freight operator in Central Europe, is rapidly expanding its operations in the automotive transport segment. The Group is increasing its share in the transport of finished vehicles and car parts, growing the volume of regular shipments from car factories in Slovakia to the port of Koper in Slovenia.
The transports are carried out by PKP CARGO International. The train covers a 650-kilometer route through three countries – Slovakia, Hungary, and Slovenia – in just one day. The use of a modern multi-system locomotive allows for seamless travel without the need to change rolling stock, significantly reducing transport time and increasing operational efficiency. Only the train drivers change, each of whom holds the required licenses and speaks the local language of the country in which they operate.
The rapid increase in the volume of these transports confirms our strong position in the Central European region and our ability to handle complex, international logistics chains. Cooperation with major logistics companies and vehicle manufacturers is a sign of trust and a driving force for further development in this demanding segment. Through such initiatives, the Group is implementing its strategy of changing the structure of transported goods.
– said Agnieszka Wasilewska-Semail, CEO of PKP CARGO S.A. (under restructuring).
The contracts PKP CARGO International has signed with international logistics companies cover a cooperation period of up to three years. Currently, the company transports vehicles from eight different brands, as well as automotive parts and components. Depending on the type of vehicle, a single train can carry between 90 and even 200 cars. The total length of such a train exceeds 500 meters.
Our priority is to ensure reliable and timely deliveries, which are crucial for the stable functioning of the automotive industry. Thanks to route optimization, modern rolling stock, and close cooperation with our partners, we are able to meet high standards and the demanding expectations of our clients.
– stated Łukasz Grzesło, CEO of PKP CARGO International.
In the face of rising fuel costs and challenges related to CO₂ emissions, rail is becoming an increasingly attractive alternative to road transport. PKP CARGO Group consistently invests in modern technological solutions that streamline logistics operations and reduce environmental impact.
Through the ongoing development of international connections and the growing share of automotive transport, PKP CARGO Group is solidifying its position as a strategic partner for car manufacturers and logistics companies in Central Europe and is planning further expansion in this segment.
