Logistics company Wincanton has signed a contract with Statoil for fuel distribution in Ireland. The agreement was concluded for five years, and the value of the contract is estimated at 30 million euros.
Statoil has been cooperating with Wincanton Trans European for over 11 years. Until now, the orders concerned the management of elements of Statoil’s operations on an outsourcing basis. Thanks to the new agreement, Wincanton has become the exclusive logistics operator. At the same time, the company will implement technologies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the services it provides. Wincanton will carry out the project from three locations: Dublin, Galway, and Cork. Additionally, it will also manage subcontractors as a fourth party logistics provider (managing the entire process of delivering goods from a manufacturer in one or more countries to consumers in multiple countries).
– The contract with Statoil will enable us to further strengthen our position in the Irish market. It will also allow us to successfully build operations in the retail goods sector. Furthermore, we can also utilize our best practices in health and safety and deliver technologies resulting from our experience in fuel distribution – said Gordon Scott, Managing Director of the Industrial Sector at Wincanton.
