Mercury Managed Services gaining popularity

Mercury Interactive Corporation, a company specializing in Business Technology Optimization (BTO), has announced that six of the ten largest banks, seven of the ten largest consumer durables manufacturers, and six of the ten largest companies on the Forbes Global 2000 list are using Mercury Managed Services.

Since the launch of Mercury Managed Services in January 2000, over a thousand customers have already used them. These services enable them to solve even the most difficult problems in the field of application management and optimization – said Yuval Scarlat, Vice President of Products at Mercury. Mercury Managed Services provide customers with immediate access to top-class solutions covering all areas of business, thereby increasing their market competitiveness.

Mercury Managed Services involve providing Mercury’s application management and usage solutions over the Internet in a hosted model. As part of this service, Mercury assigns a team of specialists who provide customers with assistance in remotely managing the performance and availability of critical Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications, as well as other custom applications. In most cases, the Mercury Managed Services solution allows customers to effectively implement IT solutions within a few weeks, or even a few days.

Currently, over 500 customers from the United States, Europe, and the Far East are using Mercury Managed Services. Every day, Mercury’s solutions enable the monitoring of an average of 57 million data items, the management of over 7 million business processes, and allow customers to identify 80 business events that could impact the company’s operations.

The key elements of Mercury Managed Services are:

  • Mercury Business Availability Center is a suite of hosted products and services that enable customers to manage business-critical service levels and applications from the perspective of individual users.
  • Mercury Quality Center is an offering of hosted products and services used for test planning, requirements management, and defect tracking. Furthermore, it includes services that enable customers to perform functional testing and business process testing.
  • Mercury Performance Center is a suite of hosted products and services that allow customers to control application performance, identify bottlenecks, and resolve issues before application deployment.
  • Mercury IT Governance Center is the only service in the business systems optimization industry that includes IT project execution management, which enables customers to accelerate solution deployment and reduce project management costs.

Mercury Managed Services utilize proven solutions that leverage business process and application environments covering various technologies, such as J2EE, .NET, SAP, Oracle, Siebel, PeopleSoft, Apache, JBoss, BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Microsoft IIS, DB2, SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle databases, etc.

Offering software as a service is an increasingly widespread method for optimizing application performance. Many enterprises require flexibility in software delivery depending on risk, cost, and existing expertise. Enterprises are increasingly replacing IT solutions that are fixed assets with solutions obtained as services. Consequently, software offered as a service is increasingly becoming a part of long-term procurement strategy.

Customers can use Mercury’s solutions as part of Mercury Managed Services or as an on-premise deployment. Furthermore, it is possible to combine both of the above methods and change the deployment model at any time.
