A large clothing factory from China will be built near Łódź. There are also plans to build a Chinese factory.
The Chinese from the city of Zhongshan will build a textile factory near Łódź, along with a residential estate. This is the first investment of this type in Poland. The Łódź-based company Energotrade will assist the Chinese with the investment on a joint-venture basis.
Before Chinese production starts near Łódź, a large warehouse with an area of 4,000 square meters will be built. It will be constructed by the market management. The cost is estimated at about 4 million PLN, but the Ptak trade center in Rzgów will pay only half.
– The Chinese will pay for occupying the entire hall area upfront – explains Paweł Babski, the center’s director. – It is a favorable arrangement for them because they do not have to deal with logistics, and we know the Polish market well. The management staff will be Chinese, but they will also hire Poles.
Polish entrepreneurs fear that the Chinese hall will take their customers away. In Łódź, most clothing companies were created to serve the markets – they sew cheaply, but they will not be able to defend themselves against Chinese textiles.
