The first stage of the Olympiad began promptly at 9:00 AM in all 186 schools registered for this year’s competition. Rotation, bottleneck, or intermodal transport – these were some of the issues that participants of the first stage of the 4th National Logistics Olympiad had to face. For 60 minutes, they solved a single-choice test consisting of 40 questions. Now, over 6,000 participants are waiting for the results, which the Poznań School of Logistics will announce on the website http://www.szkolysrednie.wsl.com.pl/ by the end of October.
The Olympiad is aimed at students of secondary and post-secondary schools studying for the professions of logistics technician and freight forwarding technician. Its goal is not only to spark interest in logistics among young people but also to help evaluate the curriculum in secondary and post-secondary schools. The thematic scope of the Olympiad covers the entire material that a student of a profiled high school should master during several years of study. The project is part of the “WSL for secondary schools” program, under which the Poznań university cooperates with most logistics and freight forwarding technical schools in Poland.
The Olympiad takes place in three stages:
– October 21, 2011 – Stage I – single-choice test, competition held in schools
– December 9, 2011 – Stage II – multiple-choice test, competition organized in districts
– March 16, 2012 – Stage III – FINAL – problem-solving tasks, competition organized at the organizer’s headquarters – Poznań School of Logistics in Poznań.
The winners of the Olympiad will be partially exempt from the vocational qualification examination. Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to undertake free studies at WSL.
The substantive partners of the Olympiad are: the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing and the Polish Logistics Society. The patronage over the 4th edition of the event, whose theme this year is “Packaging in logistics systems,” is held by the Polish Chamber of Packaging.
