Not just an antivirus, but comprehensive solutions

The security of IT systems is an extremely important issue
in a world where we exchange millions of gigabytes of data daily via computer networks. Not long ago, computer security was in most cases guaranteed by an antivirus program. Today, however, when talking about security issues, we must add firewall, antispyware, and antispam programs to the popular “antivirus”. Moreover, installing the aforementioned programs may prove insufficient if we do not ensure that we periodically install security-critical updates on our operating system, often referred to by software manufacturers as “critical”. This process, colloquially called “patching holes” or installing “patches”, also applies to every type of software installed on the operating system.

(private) data – credit card numbers, passwords, or other important data, as well as so-called “parental control”, whose task is to filter content unsuitable for children placed on websites. An additional module of such a suite can be an antiphishing program, whose task is to protect the user against internet fraud. Such a program filters e-mails containing potential threats in the form of links to fake websites where, for example, banking information is stolen.
Before purchasing such a suite, it is worth knowing what features each program included in it should have. Let’s start with the features of the antivirus program itself, one of the most important functions of which is real-time system protection (auto-protect), which consists of the antivirus “engine” scanning individual files saved on the hard drive for viruses in the background. The antivirus scans not only files but also all programs that we are currently opening, so we are protected from virus infection when we accidentally open a file of unknown origin. Another basic and very important function is scanning mail in e-mail programs – both incoming and outgoing from our computer.
