Schenker’s European Logistics Center, which was established in Friedewald in northern Hesse, Germany, shortens service lead times.
A unique combination of a transit warehouse and a logistics center optimizes Schenker’s European services. Goods delivered late in the evening to the new center arrive early the next morning at any location in Germany and many industrial areas in Europe.
Schenker’s European Logistics Center (SELC), located adjacent to the central terminal, offers customers fast and flexible logistics. Customers can now benefit from a comprehensive range of services tailored to their individual needs. Before reaching the recipient, goods are temporarily stored, repacked, labeled, checked, and formed into new shipments.
The new Center has storage space for over 11,000 EUR pallets on high racks, occupying approximately 12,000 square meters. Additionally, there are another 8,000 pallet spaces on a 4,500 square meter area. A 900-square-meter security zone for highly sensitive goods is equipped with a video camera system, alarm, and sprinkler system.
The proximity to Schenker’s central terminal means that pick-up times from customers can be exceptionally late. Orders received before 8:00 PM are processed within the company’s own logistics network on the same day, reaching the recipient the next day. Shipments reach all locations in Europe according to the delivery schedule within a maximum of 72 hours.
Additionally, the exchange of goods within Europe is facilitated by daily direct connections from Schenker’s central terminal to France, Slovenia, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Slovakia, Sweden, and the Czech Republic. Since July 4, 2005, the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have also joined this group.
