Running a business on the Internet: from e-commerce to e-business

The Difin publishing house has just released the latest book by Włodzimierz Szpringer, author of, among others, the 2002 publication “E-commerce, e-banking – challenges of globalization”. The development of electronic commerce requires a systemic approach. Until now, there has been a lack of in-depth reflection connecting various research directions, and especially one that takes into account the growing role of legal institutions
and the convergence of electronic media. The publication provides a comprehensive approach to all significant issues of e-business.
The concept of e-business integrates the entirety of economic and regulatory problems of the Internet, computers, and e-commerce, the adaptation of company structures and strategies, the applications of computer software and databases, and consumer protection. The book discusses, among other things, the following issues: forms and methods of running a business on the Internet,
electronic signatures and electronic declarations of intent – a common problem for e-commerce and e-government, electronic commerce and privacy protection, electronic commerce and other forms of distance selling of goods or services, European law versus national law (dilemmas of harmonization versus common market freedoms), the evolution of copyright in the digital environment.
The author of the book is a professor at the Warsaw School of Economics (Collegium of Business Administration) and the University of Warsaw (Faculty of Management), dealing with banking and banking law, competition policy and law, as well as modern technologies, intellectual and industrial property in the digital economy, and legal issues of e-commerce, e-banking, and e-money.
