A tool, or a service?

– a conversation with Agnieszka Gargol, a certified auditor and chief accountant of a company providing Internet access services.
Piotr Górski
: Is it possible to conduct full accounting for companies on the Internet?
Agnieszka Gargol
: The answer depends on what we are talking about. It is possible to transmit data necessary for accounting via the Internet from the client company to the accounting service provider, as well as to send the results of the accountants’ work in the other direction. Polish law also allows for the use of the Internet for submitting financial documents to government offices. Therefore, there are no formal obstacles to accounting services provided in electronic form for enterprises via the publicly available Web.
P.G.
: By typing the word “rachunkowość” (accounting) into a search engine, you get nearly 190,000 addresses; “księgowość” (bookkeeping) – over 153,500; “usługi księgowe” (accounting services) – 84,431. Even the simplest definition of “accounting” or “bookkeeping” results in several thousand entries in a search engine. If we take into account that only a small percentage of Poles can correctly fill out a PIT form, the question arises: how can one find the right solution on the Web with limited knowledge?
A.G.
: First of all, you need to know what you are looking for. When using the Internet, we must precisely formulate our expectations. If we are setting up a small business with uncomplicated operations and we know a little about accounting, we can – for an inexpensive monthly subscription
– use and “download” programs for filling out forms and documents via the Internet.
