Police revolution

The Poznań Police are using a modern vehicle tracking system based on GPRS technology in the Plus GSM network. As part of this, devices have been installed in vehicles that send data to a server, which in turn transmits it to a ComputerLand application. The application visualizes the data on a specially prepared, detailed map of Poznań. The new system allows for the precise real-time location of police patrol cars, thereby reducing the response time of intervention patrols to crime scenes.
The mobile network operator PlusGSM and OptoScan s.j., a company specializing in the production of monitoring devices, have created the SpaceGUARD system, which is the first in Europe to enable real-time vehicle tracking. The use of modern GPRS packet data transmission technology allows for continuous vehicle tracking with operating costs kept to a minimum. The SpaceGUARD system servers archive data received from vehicles at all times. Thanks to modern applications equipped with a package of vector maps, accurate information is obtained regarding the position, direction of travel, speed, engine operation, etc., of vehicles at a specific day, hour, and minute. The transmitter placed in the vehicle constantly determines the car’s position and sends it to the monitoring center. SpaceGUARD includes mechanisms to prevent GSM signal jamming. The continuity of GPRS transmission ensures the detection of any attempt to disrupt communication and immediate action by the monitoring center operator. The system installed in the vehicle contains a low-power radio transmitter that communicates with the receiver every half second.
