The second, revised and expanded edition of the textbook Logistics Services is now available to readers. The relatively quick publication of the second edition is due both to the exhaustion of the first print run and the extremely dynamic changes occurring in the logistics services market. This market in Poland has undergone a huge evolution over the last 15 years, caused by the economic reform at the beginning of the 1990s and the process of adapting to the operating principles of the European Union.
Logistics Services is a publication intended for students specializing in logistics and transport, as well as specialists in the field of transport, forwarding, and logistics. The authors’ intention was to create a textbook that would serve as a universal aid used at many Polish universities dealing with these issues, organize basic concepts and issues in the field of logistics services, and facilitate the acquisition of knowledge thanks to the attractive form of the presented materials.
The book consists of seven chapters. The first one is introductory and deals with the premises for the emergence of logistics services. The next two concern the formation of the modern logistics services market in Europe and Poland. A separate chapter in this section is devoted to courier services. The fourth chapter deals with the transport infrastructure enabling this activity. The next two chapters concern selected specific issues related to logistics services: logistics centers and combined transport. The book ends with a chapter discussing the role and importance of the Internet in logistics services. The textbook has a modern form with keywords in the margins, a thematic index, and a set of questions at the end of each chapter.
