Near the Dutch city of Culemborg, it is impossible not to notice a huge, modern building, harmoniously integrated into its surroundings. This is the high-bay warehouse of Centraal Boekhuis – the main book distributor in the Netherlands.
The company’s history dates back to 1878, when Centraal Boekhuis was founded on the initiative of the Royal Dutch Book Trade Association. Today, the efficiency of logistics processes in the largest book warehouse in Europe is ensured by a modern distribution center implemented with the participation of consultants and engineers from the Groenewout company. Primarily thanks to their kindness, as well as the favor of the Centraal Boekhuis management, I was able to visit the book distribution center, which serves 540 publishers and 1,300 bookstores. The company holds an 85% share of the book distribution market in the Netherlands.
