Over 6,000 students from 182 secondary schools across the country will take part in the 4th National Logistics Olympiad. This is over 1,500 more participants than in last year’s edition. They will begin the first stage of the competition on October 21, 2011. The organizer of the event is the Poznań School of Logistics. The Honorary Patronage over the competition was taken by the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Marshal of the Greater Poland Voivodeship, and the Mayor of the City of Poznań.
The Olympiad is aimed at students of secondary and post-secondary schools studying for the professions of: freight forwarder technician and logistics technician. It aims not only to arouse interest in logistics among young people but also to help evaluate the curriculum in secondary and post-secondary schools.
– Students are eager to sign up for the Olympiad. We have participants from the second, third, and fourth grades. The former want to get familiar with the competition and learn the level of difficulty. Meanwhile, third and fourth-year students want to test their knowledge, assess their capabilities, and potentially fill in any gaps – says Agnieszka Michalska from the Continuing Education School Complex in Konin. – Besides, high school graduates want to qualify for the final to get an exemption from the written part of the vocational exam – she adds.
The Olympiad takes place in three stages. During the first – school stage (October 21, 2011), students will solve a single-choice test prepared by the OOL Scientific Committee. The best will qualify for the second stage – the district stage (December 9, 2011), where they will also solve a test, but this time a multiple-choice one, not in their home school, but at an institution representing the given OOL district. The final of the 4th National Logistics Olympiad will take place on March 16, 2012, in Poznań, at the headquarters of the Poznań School of Logistics, the organizer of the competition. The thematic scope will cover the entire material that a student of a profiled high school should master during several years of study. Instead of a classic test, the Olympiad participants will struggle with tasks.
Laureates and finalists of the Olympiad can expect not only partial exemptions from the vocational qualification confirmation exam but also free studies at the WSL and many material prizes.
– This is the fourth edition of the Olympiad. Year after year, we are seeing increasing interest in participating in the competition. This testifies to the growing importance of the undertaking, which is appreciated by students, teachers, and partner companies alike. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the participants! – summarized Wojciech Zalewski, press spokesperson for the Poznań School of Logistics.
