The 5th International Trade Fair for Distribution, Materials Handling and Information Flow, which will take place from February 13 to 15, 2007, in Stuttgart, opens the calendar of European trade fair events related to logistics. Over 500 exhibitors from Europe, Asia, and the USA will present the latest solutions in the field of intralogistics.
As trade fair director Peter Kazander informed us, this year’s exhibition will occupy approximately 30,000 square meters of exhibition space. In addition to a rich product offering, a large selection of thematic conferences, seminars, demonstrations, and presentations awaits trade fair participants. As in previous years, exhibitors will compete for the most innovative product award. Prestigious prizes will be awarded in three categories: communication and IT, warehousing and internal transport, and packaging and picking. The jury will include editors of the European logistics press and representatives of the VDI association. The largest group of exhibitors in the previous edition of the fair were companies representing warehouse equipment and internal transport, as well as information and communication technologies. A significant group also consisted of companies from the packaging industry.
The LOGIMAT trade fair attracts more exhibitors every year: in 2003 there were only 160, but in 2006 there were already about 400.
During next year’s edition of LOGIMAT, it will be possible to get acquainted with the latest solutions in the field of warehouse technology equipment, information systems, and production logistics. Companies such as SAP, SSI Schäfer, STILL, Jungheinrich, and Swisslog have announced their presence in Stuttgart. An attraction for visitors to the fair will be a series of many thematic conferences organized by leading European institutions related to the logistics industry. The program of individual events will include, among others, the following topics: information technologies, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) systems, picking methods and techniques, robotics in the warehouse, storage of hazardous materials, packaging, and cargo securing. The organizer of one of the conferences is the editorial staff of “Logistyka”. The conference under the slogan “Logistics facilities in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe” will take place on the first day of the fair, and will be attended by developers and representatives of manufacturing and distribution companies from our part of Europe.
