Logistics management in a military budgetary unit involves acquiring, collecting, and processing a vast amount of information. Meeting information needs for the implementation of management functions requires the creation of an information system that ensures continuous access to current, accurate, and truthful information. Modern information systems have become computerized and are referred to as IT systems. Thanks to them, the following is achieved:
– improvement in the quality of management and direction
– computerized exchange of information between participants of the constantly lengthening “logistics chain”
– standardization of computerized management and direction documents as well as standardization of their circulation
– increased reliability of decision-making and planning processes
– reduction of logistics costs
– increased effectiveness and reliability of the “logistics chain” operation.
Modern logistics IT systems, operating over vast areas, are exposed to all kinds of dangers. Information transmitted in computer networks can be intercepted or modified by unauthorized persons. Therefore, information security is a serious problem.
