The organization represents enterprises with public capital participation as well as those whose activities are of particular importance to the European economy. It is one of the three organizations representing social partners recognized by the European Commission. Within the framework of the European Social Dialogue, CEEP represents public employers, while BusinessEurope and ETUC (European Trade Union Confederation) represent private employers and trade unions, respectively.
CEEP and its General Secretariat in Brussels represent the interests of its members before numerous European institutions. The organization maintains excellent contacts with the Directorates-General of the European Commission, representatives of the European Parliament, and the European Economic and Social Committee. CEEP works closely with other European business organizations; however, independently of sectoral associations, the organization serves as an additional lobbying instrument for entrepreneurs in Brussels due to its role as a social partner and an organization representing enterprises that provide services of particular importance to the economy.
The organization’s mission is to provide information, advice, and expertise on working conditions, industrial relations, and change management in Europe to key stakeholders in the field of EU social policy.
