Wincanton has commenced distribution operations for production support materials for seven Volkswagen Logistics plants.
Wincanton, with its operational center in Braunschweig, will handle the distribution of workshop equipment, tools, engines, packaging materials, and rejected goods for Volkswagen factories in Wolfsburg, Emden, Braunschweig, Hanover, Salzgitter, Kassel, and Bratislava in Slovakia. Wincanton branches are to manage distribution for each of the seven Volkswagen factories. This will allow the company to distribute packaged goods from the factories via the distribution network, and in the future, to also include production support materials in the service.
– During several meetings with representatives of Volkswagen Logistics, we proved that we have the appropriate qualifications to successfully take over the management of part of Volkswagen Logistics’ European distribution operations – said Uwe Martens, project manager for Volkswagen Logistics at Wincanton. – In addition to the quality of our services, the deciding factor was our existing experience in working with the automotive industry. This allowed us to convince Volkswagen that Wincanton would be an ideal partner for cooperation.
