Wincanton, a provider of advanced supply chain services, has optimized the supply chain for companies belonging to the Sara Lee Group. As part of the cooperation, Wincanton handled the transport of less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments in compliance with HACCP principles, as well as shipments of household chemical products.
Wincanton began its cooperation with the Sara Lee Group with a project carried out for Sara Lee Coffee and Tea Poland SA, a manufacturer and distributor of ground, instant, and whole bean coffee. Thanks to a fast and seamless implementation and the achievement of high quality indicators, the cooperation was extended to include logistics services for Sara Lee Household and Body Care, a company involved in the production and distribution of household chemicals.
Sara Lee Coffee and Tea Poland SA was looking for a provider of comprehensive logistics solutions for the purpose of consolidating goods in a single warehouse, warehouse handling, and domestic LTL, partial, and full truckload transport, while maintaining HACCP principles. In response to the client’s needs, Wincanton conducted an analysis of shipment volumes and delivery locations. Furthermore, an analysis using the advanced CAST tool was performed. As a result, Wincanton proposed a solution that optimized the client’s existing supply chain.
This approach translated into a number of benefits, including faster delivery of LTL shipments and reduced environmental pollution through a decrease in the number of vehicles carrying out deliveries.
– Wincanton met our expectations regarding the timeliness of shipment deliveries and warehouse handling within a full supply chain that complies with HACCP principles – summarizes Piotr Hupało, Supply Chain Manager at Sara Lee.
Customer satisfaction led to the expansion of cooperation with Wincanton. Sara Lee Household and Body Care was looking for a provider of comprehensive logistics solutions to handle all transport orders while simultaneously optimizing the process.
– During our cooperation with Wincanton on the previous project carried out for Prima – Sara Lee Coffee and Tea Poland SA, we managed to develop mutual openness and trust, which translated into tangible benefits and the expansion of cooperation regarding the delivery of household chemical products. – comments Piotr Hupało.
Before Sara Lee Household and Body Care began working with Wincanton, it used dedicated transport services handled by many small local carriers. However, this solution was inefficient from a cost and process perspective.
Wincanton proposed a distribution model for goods based on an LTL network system, allowing for 24-hour deliveries and cost optimization. Furthermore, systems for the verification and control of transport processes were implemented.
– I am convinced that focusing on the client’s needs and consistently striving for operational excellence has allowed our client to develop an even better market position. – says Ryszard Warzocha, Managing Director CEE, Wincanton.
