Wincanton acquires Lane Group

Leveraging existing logistics solutions and home delivery systems, Wincanton has announced the acquisition of Lane Group plc, a UK market leader in this sector. In addition to brands such as B&Q and Comet, Wincanton’s delivery client base will now include Homebase, Magnet, Electrolux, and Bosch, who have previously utilized Lane’s services. Combining the expertise and experience of Wincanton employees with Lane’s infrastructure and transport network will allow for the support of all clients, improving service quality and expanding the range of offerings.

– The opportunities arising for Wincanton as a result of the Lane acquisition are significant, and the company’s operations fit well into our strategic plans – said Martin Taylor, Managing Director Retail, Wincanton.

The home delivery market has been growing for years due to the popularity of retail chain shopping and the developing multi-channel retail sector. Its value in 2005 was estimated at GBP 37.1 billion. This sector is ripe for innovative changes due to the increasingly high demands placed on home deliveries.

– For Lane Group, this is a fantastic opportunity. Both Lane and Wincanton are known for their high level of customer service. Planning to expand its operations into the home delivery market, Wincanton decided on this acquisition. It was a natural business move, which I am very positive about myself – says Rebecca Jenkins, Managing Director of Lane Group plc.
