Automatic identification – part 1
The purpose of this short presentation is to present the basic reasons why it is worth implementing barcode systems, as well as to show the Reader where these systems can be used in their enterprise.
Speed and precision
When there is a need to enter a series of numbers into a computer or cash register, this activity takes a lot of time for the employee; at the same time, there is a high probability that errors will occur during data entry. Statistically speaking, one in 300 keystrokes is erroneous. Replacing the keyboard or additionally equipping it with a barcode reader will reduce errors almost to zero and increase work efficiency by several hundred percent.
Customers want to use barcodes
Well-managed companies expect purchased materials, components, or goods to be properly labeled. Labeling unit packaging with a code enables the recording of product sales at a cash register equipped with a code reader. A barcode can also be used to identify a product coming from a supplier, as it is easy to access information about the internal order number, product identification code, delivered quantity, or the supplier’s name and address. The barcode makes it possible to very quickly determine which products were delivered and whether there were any discrepancies in the delivery. Meeting the requirements of their recipients, companies are implementing labeling systems using high-quality labels adapted to difficult conditions prevailing during transport, with a legible barcode.
Location of products, components and raw materials
The use of barcodes allows for the quick and precise location of pallets and packaging in warehouses. Thanks to the automation of processes, it is possible to speed up the loading and unloading cycle of vehicles and eliminate errors in records. It is also possible to avoid the constant search for products that are indeed in inventory records, but their location is unknown. An additional saving is the more efficient use of warehouse space.
