Vaillant and Fiege have started cooperation at the logistics center in Neuss

The Fiege Group and the Vaillant Group have officially opened a new logistics center in western Germany. The presence of political representatives, including Minister of Economic Affairs Christa Thoben, who performed the ceremonial opening of the event, underscored the importance of this project, which is currently the largest one being implemented by Fiege in North Rhine-Westphalia.

– We are proud of this center, as the modern technology used in it sends a positive signal to the entire logistics industry. Given the current difficult economic situation, our goal is to show that despite the economic crisis, the industry is set for a significant improvement – emphasizes Hugo Fiege, CEO of Fiege.

– As one of the global market and technology leaders in energy-efficient heating systems, we are setting new logistics standards for servicing our industry. Order fulfillment can now be carried out much faster and more effectively than before. This brings benefits not only to the Vaillant Group but also to specialized retailers and distribution partners in the wholesale market – explains Ralf-Otto Limbach, CEO of the Vaillant Group.

The largest client, occupying more than half of the available warehouse space, is TechnoCargo Logistik (TCL), a joint venture between the Vaillant Group and the Fiege Group. Until now, TCL served the Vaillant Group as well as other clients operating in the same industry at the logistics center in Hilden and managed the entire supply chain. However, due to the constantly increasing workload and the growth in the number of products, the previous facility proved to be too small. The new warehouse in Neuss has therefore become an excellent alternative, mainly due to its location.

The Vaillant Group, as TCL’s largest client, derives tangible benefits from the optimization of processes within the supply chain at the new location. Orders are fulfilled faster and logistics costs are lower. The center offers modern storage systems for solar collectors, photovoltaic elements, as well as heat pumps – products based on renewable energy that are currently becoming an important element of the Vaillant Group’s business.

Measuring 522 meters in length and 160 meters in width, the logistics center in Neuss has a warehouse area of over 83,500 square meters, as well as 5,000 square meters of office and social space. The total value of the investment amounted to approximately 80 million euros. The facility also features a workshop for trucks and a gas station offering biodiesel and vegetable oil. Environmental protection was also taken into account; as in every other facility of this class, in accordance with Fiege’s eco-logistics policy, rainwater is discharged directly into the ground via a special system of drainage ditches. An emergency overflow system installed on the building’s roof additionally protects the center against heavy rainfall.
