This paper presents a gear mesh model and an analysis of the obtained signals using continuous and discrete wavelet transforms. Wavelet analysis allows for determining whether a gear is damaged and enables the calculation of indicators that serve as a measure of damage.A gear unit is an integral part of the kinematic chain of a power transmission system from the engine to the energy receiver. The basic assumption for a gear is to change the transmitted torque and rotational speed while minimizing dynamic disturbances and maximizing efficiency. Therefore, from an operational point of view, it is important to assess the vibration activity of the gear, which will allow for the evaluation of its technical condition.
The paper describes the possibilities of using empirical decomposition for early detection and quantification of tooth damage. The modeled damage was a crack at the base of the tooth, which results in a percentage change in the stiffness of the damaged tooth.
The work concerns the possibility of using discrete and continuous wavelet transforms to assess the technical condition of a gear unit. The modeled damage was a crack at the base of the tooth, which results in a percentage change in the elasticity coefficient of the damaged tooth. (…)
