Urban transport behind the scenes

Poznań is preparing for Euro 2012. Renovations at key transport hubs in the city are significantly hindering residents’ daily commutes. An alternative to sitting in traffic jams is public transport. The Poznań School of Logistics, as part of the “Greater Poland Must Know” (WMW) project, has presented an educational film revealing the secrets of urban traffic planning.

Urban transport behind the scenes

– The goal of this film is not to show transport changes in connection with the Euro 2012 renovations, but to show urban transport on a daily basis – says Wojciech Zalewski, WSL press spokesperson. – In the face of recent changes in transport, knowledge of these issues is interesting not only for students and pupils training in logistics professions, but practically for every user of urban traffic. It is worth seeing what public transport looks like behind the scenes and how much is being done in Poznań to modernize it, and consequently, to make life easier for residents.

The film was produced as part of the “Greater Poland Must Know” project. The goal of this project is to create a communication platform, improve the flow of information, confront the expectations of future employers with existing curricula, and create teaching aids to support changes in the logistics education process. The film about urban transport is the first of ten educational films being produced. It was created in cooperation with MPK Poznań and ZTM in Poznań – thanks to the great openness of representatives of both companies and the provision of all facilities and vehicles at the disposal of the film crew.

– We approached the Poznań School of Logistics’ proposal regarding cooperation on the educational film produced as part of the “Greater Poland Must Know” project with great enthusiasm – says Iwona Cieślik, head of the MPK Promotion Office. – Such cooperation fits perfectly into our strategy and is very valuable to us. We realize that by sharing our experience in such ventures, we are creating qualified staff who will join our ranks in the future.

– We are pleased that our participation in the program will help future students understand current trends in the organization of public transport, and in the future, perhaps result in an influx of appropriately qualified personnel – says Tomasz Gieżyński, deputy director at ZTM Poznań.
