Transport for the US Army

On February 6-7, 2010, PKP CARGO S.A. completed another shipment commissioned by the US Armed Forces.

Since 2007, PKP CARGO has been transporting missiles for F-16 aircraft to the Air Base in Łask on behalf of the US Army. In total, five shipments were completed, with a combined volume exceeding 120 containers. The transports were carried out by the West Pomeranian and Central Divisions of PKP CARGO. Representatives of the US and Polish armed forces also contributed to their efficient and comprehensive execution: the military unit in Łask, the Military Transport Command in Szczecin, the Railway Security Guard (SOK), as well as passenger companies of the PKP Group.

– Although this was the final transport for the US Army, we hope that the experience gained during the execution of missile shipments will pay off in future projects carried out for NATO armed forces – said Daniel Ryczek, Member of the Management Board of PKP CARGO for International Affairs.

In accordance with the requirements of the US Armed Forces representatives, PKP CARGO was obliged to deliver the shipments to the Air Base in Łask in the shortest possible time. At the same time, the company’s tasks included organizing the transport from providing freight wagons and a passenger carriage for security personnel, through tracking the train’s journey, to completing the consignment notes. The timely arrival of the ship at the port in Szczecin also depended on the efficient and rapid dispatch of the shipment containing the missiles.
