TRANSALLIANCE has over 60 branches across Europe, and its fleet consists of approximately 3,200 vehicles. Each truck is equipped with an on-board computer from Transics, which is connected to the TRANSALLIANCE group’s IT tools via an Intranet. The decision made in 2002 to integrate on-board computers was part of the company’s global strategy aimed at reducing operating costs, optimizing services, and providing customers with top-quality solutions. The next step in this strategy is TRANSALLIANCE’s decision to purchase a trailer management platform.
A trusted supplier
The French logistics group owns nearly 4,000 trailers. The company often uses subcontractors to handle them.
– Sometimes it is difficult to get clear information about where a given trailer is currently located, especially in situations where it is not connected to a tractor unit or when it is being transported by a subcontractor. Conversely, a lack of such information makes effective transport planning and efficient use of our resources significantly more difficult – says Alexandre Michel, CEO of TRANSALLIANCE.
Due to the successful cooperation with Transics to date and positive experiences with using the company’s on-board computers, the TRANSALLIANCE group requested an offer for trailer fleet management solutions. After just a few weeks of testing, Alexandre Michel was convinced that TX-MAGELLAN GEO was exactly what his company needed.
Real-time location information
TX-MAGELLAN GEO is a solution belonging to the TX-MAGELLAN family – a set of autonomous trailer management tools that Transics has been gradually introducing to the market since April. Thanks to tracking and monitoring functions, TX-MAGELLAN GEO is able to indicate the exact location of each trailer, even if it is not connected to a tractor unit. Having precise information about which trailers are on the road and which are currently unused allows the dispatcher to effectively utilize the fleet.
Simple and fast installation
TX-MAGELLAN GEO is a durable, autonomous device that does not require the connection of any additional components. GEO has its own independent battery, which ensures operation for at least 4 years. The device can be installed discreetly, and its assembly takes only a few minutes.
– Naturally, it is still too early to talk about return on investment, but we are convinced that this solution will allow us to reduce costs and work more efficiently. Precise indication of our trailers’ locations will allow us to optimize the use of every vehicle and increase our flexibility. Thanks to this, the quality of our services will be even higher – added Alexandre Michel.
