Courier company TNT Express has transported a special footbridge for training therapy dogs. The unusual shipment was received by the Przyjaciel Foundation, which specializes in dog therapy.
The footbridge, consisting of 4-meter-long elements, was transported from Wrocław to Warsaw. The equipment will enable the training of dogs that accompany people with disabilities and wheelchair users.
– Training on the footbridge will be undertaken by animals particularly predisposed to assisting those in need – these will be Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. The dog training will include maintaining balance, building self-confidence, getting accustomed to heights, and running on an elevated surface – explains Nina Bekasiewicz, president of the foundation.
The Przyjaciel Foundation, which empowers people with disabilities by promoting sports within this group, will invite disabled individuals from Konstancin to sessions using the footbridge in September. The foundation will advise them on how to work with a dog and how to improve their own skills.
– We receive so many requests that we are unable to respond to all needs – says Jolanta Krupowicz, Marketing Manager at TNT Express – However, due to the socially vital work of the Przyjaciel Foundation, we decided to provide our support.
