PKP Intercity has launched ticket sales for 50 additional domestic trains operating during the Euro 2012™ tournament. Tickets for other regularly scheduled trains will be available for purchase with a thirty-day advance booking period.

During Euro 2012™ in Poland, PKP Intercity will operate a total of 950 trains to and from host cities for matches, 50 of which are so-called additional trains. Tickets for these additional trains can already be purchased at ticket offices or online. Mandatory seat reservations will apply to all additional trains. They will consist of 11 carriages, allowing them to carry nearly 35,000 fans.
– Our goal was to launch pre-sales for additional trains as early as possible. We succeeded, and thanks to this, passengers and fans can already buy tickets online or at ticket offices today. The Intercity team has been working at full capacity to prepare the offer for the Euros, and today the first results of this work are already visible; the coming days will bring further interesting changes to our offer – said Janusz Malinowski, CEO of PKP Intercity SA.
In addition to the extra offer of 50 trains, domestic travel to matches will be handled by regularly scheduled trains, i.e., those that arrive at the host city approximately 3 hours before the start of the match. The same will apply to return journeys, with the difference that departures will take place approximately 1.5 hours after the end of the match or approximately 0.5 hours after the fan zone closes. To ensure comfort, all trains carrying fans will be reinforced to the maximum technical capacity of the railway infrastructure and rolling stock. Tickets for regularly scheduled trains will be available for purchase with a thirty-day advance booking period.
When planning a trip, fans should remember to reserve seats. Mandatory reservation applies to all Ex and EIC category trains, in first class TLK, and in 2nd class on 14 selected TLK trains. By purchasing a ticket and a seat reservation for 5 PLN, a TLK train passenger is guaranteed a seat in both 1st and 2nd class.
During Euro 2012, nearly 1,700 carriages and 261 locomotives will operate under the carrier’s colors. In case of higher than estimated attendance, the carrier will secure at least one additional train set at the stations: Warszawa Wschodnia, Poznań Główny, Wrocław Główny, and Gdynia/Gdańsk Główny on the days of matches played in these cities, ready for immediate deployment right after the match ends.
Already today, PKP Intercity offers passengers the option to purchase tickets outside of station ticket windows. Even before Euro 2012, 151 ticket machines will be available to travelers, offering service in Polish and English. Soon, tickets for connections with Germany will be added to online sales. During Euro 2012™, mobile conductors will also appear at stations, from whom tickets can be easily purchased. At stations in host cities, additional so-called mobile information points and special passenger information centers will be available.
Information regarding train schedules and ticket sales can be found on the website www.intercity.pl or at information points at stations. Those without internet access can use the hotline – number 19 757 (from landlines and PLUS GSM, cost per minute: 1.29 PLN gross) or (42 or 22) 19 436 (from all types of phones).
