Due to its tractive power of 6 MW, or approximately 8150 HP, the “Husarz” can reach a maximum speed of up to 230 km/h with a passenger train consist. It is currently the fastest and most modern locomotive in the country. It enables shorter travel times and provides greater travel comfort. PKP Intercity is the only railway carrier in Poland that could operate passenger trains at a speed of 200 km/h, as in addition to the 10 “Husarz” locomotives, the company also owns 129 carriages capable of reaching such speeds. PKP Intercity trains will be able to travel at this speed once the so-called cab signaling system is installed in the locomotives. This is a device that provides the train driver with advance information regarding traffic signaling on a given route. Thanks to this, it is possible to increase the permissible maximum speed on a railway line to 200 km/h. The machines owned by PKP Intercity are also approved for operation outside of Poland: in Austria, the Czech Republic, and Germany. They can be found primarily on international routes and on domestic connections on sections from Warsaw to Krakow, Katowice, and Poznan.
