Microsoft Corporation CEO Steve Ballmer and Corporate Vice President of Security Technology Mike Nash presented the company’s strategy in Munich regarding security and the delivery of effective protection solutions for individual and business customers. As part of the new strategy, Microsoft Client Protection will be released to the market, a solution for securing desktops, laptops, and servers against malicious software. Furthermore, the company announced the establishment of the SecureIT Alliance, a group bringing together companies specializing in security solutions.
Microsoft is implementing a multi-faceted security strategy based on three key areas: investing in new technologies, providing customers with security prevention guidelines, and close cooperation with authorities, law enforcement agencies, and computer security companies.
– Microsoft is investing heavily in security to enable customers to use all the conveniences and potential offered by the global network without worry. Creating a secure computing environment, resistant to attacks from malicious software, viruses, or attempts to phish for personal data, requires joint, long-term action from all IT companies, as well as customers and authorities – says Steve Ballmer.
As part of the new strategy, Microsoft announced plans to introduce Microsoft Client Protection to the market, a multifunctional solution providing protection against potential threats such as spyware or rootkits, as well as viruses and other typical internet attacks. The integrated security management console that is Microsoft Client Protection will allow IT professionals full control over the environment, and priority-sorted reports and alerts will make it easier to focus on solving the most important problems. Microsoft Client Protection will integrate with existing IT infrastructure, such as Active Directory or installed software distribution systems, which will shorten the time needed for implementation and increase the return on investment. The first beta version of the solution will be made available to selected customers later this year.
However, technology development is only one way to fight malicious programs. Therefore, Microsoft has established permanent cooperation with law enforcement agencies, legislators, and companies offering security solutions, and announced the creation of the SecureIT Alliance. Companies associated with the SecureIT Alliance will be able to effectively integrate their solutions with the Microsoft platform, creating new security features and products for mutual customers.
