The editorial team of the Rzeczpospolita daily newspaper recently published a ranking of the best companies in the Transport, Forwarding, and Logistics (TSL) industry in Poland. It turned out that the decline in transport volumes in the second half of last year was a test and a challenge for many companies. This year’s 13th edition of the ranking is distinguished by the fact that for the first time in many years, the list includes fewer than 100 companies, and 34 of them recorded a decline in revenue in 2008.
– The TSL market, measured by revenue, grew by 5.8% in 2008, three times slower than in 2007 – explains the author of the Transport, Forwarding, and Logistics ranking – Prof. Halina Brdulak from the Department of Transport and Logistics at the Warsaw School of Economics.
In 2008, Schenker Sp. z o.o. focused even more on building partner relationships with customers, including searching for solutions that optimize logistics processes and reduce costs throughout the entire supply chain. The company repeated its success from the previous year, maintaining its position as the leader in the category of revenue from core sales in 2008 in the logistics services category. In the category of revenue from core TSL sales in 2008, it took second place.
– We care about building long-term relationships with customers and suppliers based on trust – said Janusz Górski, CEO of Schenker Sp. z o.o., commenting on the current situation in the TSL market. – However, the current market situation leads to completely opposite behaviors. Most customers promote companies offering the lowest prices, focusing less on service quality. The pursuit of maximum cost reduction may lead to a stagnation in the development of logistics services with higher added value and thus “set back” the Polish logistics services market to the state it was in a few years ago. Rebuilding these values may be quite difficult if such competencies are lost. DB Schenker, together with its customers and suppliers, is looking for solutions that lead to process optimization (and thus cost reduction) while maintaining quality.
For the third time, the editors of “Rzeczpospolita” awarded the leaders of the ranking with prestigious LTS Mobile statuettes. On behalf of Schenker Sp. z o.o., the award in the logistics services category was accepted by CEO Janusz Górski.
