BCC is supporting the Spanish Celsa Group, one of the largest steel producers in Europe, in developing a corporate SAP standard for the forge. An innovative element of the project is the construction of a major extension to the standard SAP system, which will facilitate the work of SAP users employed in production.
The undertaking, carried out at the Huta Ostrowiec plant belonging to the Celsa Group, involves comprehensive adaptation and supplementation of the functionality of Celsa’s corporate SAP solution to the specifics of forging operations. The new standard is intended to help the forge in Ostrowiec function better by supporting its complex production processes.
The specifics of a forge include, among other things, a much larger assortment than in a rolling mill (several thousand products), greater product complexity, a long technological process (reaching up to several months), as well as production to customer order. Furthermore, the forge often has to meet specific order requirements, even for products considered standard, as well as high requirements regarding production quality control. Such conditions necessitate the use of other, advanced SAP functionalities, especially in the area of production and quality management.
An innovative part of the project supported by BCC is the preparation of a completely new solution, significantly exceeding the SAP standard, which will simplify and facilitate the work of system users employed in production. All operations performed by system operators will be possible to execute on a single screen. The extension will be built using ABAP technology.
