ROHLIG SUUS Logistics (formerly Rohlig Poland), one of the leading logistics operators, has received a positive assessment from the international certification company SGS regarding the HACCP system implemented at its Mysłowice branch. The company now has even greater capabilities in managing food product supply chains.
The implementation of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) is a legal requirement for companies wishing to participate in the food supply chain. The recognition of HACCP by SGS, a global leader in quality management certification, confirms that ROHLIG SUUS Logistics possesses the competencies required for the safe storage and distribution of food products. Furthermore, the company not only defines potential risks in the supply chain from the perspective of product health quality but also actively mitigates them.
– Legal requirements state that operating in accordance with HACCP is necessary for the trade of food goods, which is why a positive audit result opens up new opportunities for us. Most importantly, this includes handling full-truckload orders that require HACCP and storing durable food products according to the highest safety standards. This is another step that significantly expands our target group of clients – says Tomasz Smolarek, Security & Internal Audit Manager at ROHLIG SUUS Logistics.
The obligation to implement the HACCP system and adhere to its principles applies to companies that are part of the food supply chain, including those involved in distribution. This stems from legal regulations, namely the Act of August 25, 2006, on Food and Nutrition Safety and Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004 on the hygiene of foodstuffs.
In 2009, the company’s management decided to carry out rebranding activities, which involved changing the company name from ROHLIG Poland to ROHLIG SUUS Logistics, as well as refreshing and improving its development strategy. The change was intended to highlight the potential of the services offered and the company’s independence from the international ROHLIG&CO Group.
