Rohlig captures the Indian market

ROHLIG SUUS Logistics is scaling up its operations in the Indian market. This is made possible through a strategic partnership with the Joint Venture company Weiss-Rohlig, which has acquired a 50 percent stake in the Indian firm Tricon Shipping Pvt Ltd. As a result of the transaction, ROHLIG SUUS Logistics, the Polish partner of the international group, will expand its offering by providing more competitive services in India.

According to the Polish Embassy in India, trade transactions between Poland and India in 2008 amounted to over 1 billion USD. Thanks to the partnership with the Weiss-Rohlig network, ROHLIG SUUS Logistics will expand its offering in the Indian market. This is another step towards improving international operational potential and developing logistics infrastructure to enable customer service at the highest level.

– For companies in the TSL industry, India is a very promising country with great logistics potential. Last year alone, trade transactions between Poland and India grew by 20 percent. Poland recorded the highest dynamics in the import of machinery, while exports to our country were dominated by textiles. India aspires to the position of the world’s third-largest economy, which is a realistic assumption given the capital and the pace of development not only of this country but of the entire Asia-Pacific region. They are already seven places ahead of Poland in the economic ranking. In recent years, India has been investing huge financial resources in the modernization of road, rail, and air infrastructure. We hope that – thanks to today’s transactions – the Indian market will be very important for us in the future in strategic terms – says Piotr Dryglas, Director of Sea, Air, and Rail Freight at ROHLIG SUUS Logistics SA.

In the Indian market, ROHLIG SUUS Logistics plans to secure contracts from companies in the automotive, textile, high-tech, pharmaceutical, and FMCG sectors.
The most important products imported from India to Poland are: natural and processed food, textiles, defense systems, technology, mining products, tobacco, tea, cotton, and tools. Polish companies most often export products to India such as: power generators, equipment for the railway industry, mining machinery, metal alloys, machine tools, coking coal, sulfur, rapeseed oil, as well as chemical products and cosmetics.
