This publication continues the analysis of logistics applications in the retail system, which began in the previous issue of “Logistyka”. It discusses the logical conditions for the foundations of the analysis, including: the decalogue of the problem’s logic, basic definitions and explanations of retail trade, classification of retail activities, product flow in the source-destination system (retail), as well as monitoring and reorientation of the structure, location, and conditions of purchases.
This publication presents extended definitions and concepts of the retail logistics problem area and its basic tasks in the system of external cargo, person, and information streams in the source-destination relationship. To achieve this goal, it is first necessary to demonstrate the significant dimensions of this trade along with its place in the Polish economy (and comparatively abroad), and then attempt to outline the basic criteria that should be followed when setting tasks for retail trade (abstracting here from industry-specific features) and the repercussions of its functioning on the systems and standards of required (or at least desired) logistics services.
The article comes from the “Logistyka” magazine 2002/2.
