The main structure of the new warehouse will be ready by the end of this summer. Finishing work will begin at the start of September. This will also include the installation of high-bay racking, which will be a continuation of the existing racking systems. The expansion will increase the company’s commercial capabilities, with the number of pallet spaces rising to 13,000 and the total warehouse area to 10,000 sq. m. The social area will be doubled, as will the area for functional units, such as the packaging department or the research and development unit.
– The dynamic sales growth we have recorded in recent years has allowed us to significantly expand our offer. We have introduced new brands to the market. When building the current distribution center, we anticipated the need for its further expansion. However, we did not think it would happen so quickly. Our growing share in the domestic market for hand tools and power tools determined the need to start the investment sooner – says Mirosław Cichecki, Vice President of the Management Board of Profix Sp. z o.o.
The Profix Logistics Center in Łomna Las was opened in 2007. The total warehouse area is currently 6,500 sq. m. The company has 7,000 pallet spaces at its disposal. These are serviced by the latest generation of system forklifts. The trucks are guided in the racks by an induction line. During the finishing work, the truck guidance paths will be extended, as will the racking rows. This will ensure good operability in the new part of the warehouse as well. Profix is combining the expansion of the distribution center with bold plans for the coming years. The company’s management expects further growth in tool sales in 2011-2012. The new warehouse and office spaces are intended to help achieve these goals.
– Without an efficiently operating warehouse and well-organized order shipping, one cannot think about achieving the planned sales targets. A poorly organized warehouse and errors in order picking can ruin the efforts of the sales department. Any shortcomings can cause customer dissatisfaction and lead them to migrate to the competition. In our case, the number of errors is already small. Moreover, our work organization and style have gained recognition in the eyes of the verification committee of the Office of the Committee for European Integration and the Business Centre Club – last year we were honored with the European Medal in the logistics solutions category. Such a recommendation only confirms that we are heading in the right direction and are ready to increase the number of shipments, which will be an important element of the expected further sales growth in the coming years – says Tomasz Łuszczyk, Director of the Logistics Department at Profix.
