The article presents the results of an analysis of the possibilities of using real-time services of the ASG-EUPOS network for the automatic determination of maneuvering parameters of a vessel. Theoretical considerations are supplemented by measurements taken on a vessel maneuvering in the Gulf of Gdańsk. The results of the conducted research and their analysis are presented in the context of the possibility of building an automatic system for determining selected ship characteristics.Knowledge of a vessel’s maneuvering characteristics is of key importance for the safety of navigation and the marine environment. It allows for planning the proper maneuver, safely navigating the ship along a designated route, and making the right decisions in emergency and distress situations.
