We present to you a collection of papers prepared for the Polish Logistics Congress LOGISTICS 2008. This is the ninth event in this series. Every two years, Poznań hosts several hundred representatives of the Polish logistics community who gather here to hear reports on the latest solutions, share experiences, and also refresh old acquaintances and make new ones.
The subject matter of the conference part of LOGISTICS 2008 is devoted to current challenges for logistics (new markets, but also security issues, economic and political conditions, ecological issues) and the new organizational and technical solutions that address them. Plenary sessions, panel sessions, and thematic workshops are intended to help answer the following questions:
-
In what direction is the global economy heading, and what are the main forces and factors determining this state?
-
What factors and in what way define new challenges for logistics?
-
How are we able to respond to these challenges, and where have we not yet managed to find such an answer?
-
What role do research centers play in these searches? What are European research project consortia, as well as international logistics organizations, working on to initiate the implementation of expected solutions?
The congress speakers – practitioners and recognized authorities from Poland and abroad – will present new and interesting solutions in the fields of warehousing, transport, distribution, logistics services, and ICT solutions supporting logistics. Particular attention is paid to sessions and papers devoted to security in supply chains, as well as the issues of reverse logistics.
