The trains are composed of Ea-series coal wagons hauled by an ET41-series locomotive. These types of shipments are currently dispatched by the Company’s Silesian Division and operated on the Tarnowskie Góry – Gdańsk Port Północny route. In addition to employees of the Company’s Silesian and Upper Silesian Divisions, the transport process also involves staff from the Central, Kuyavian, and Pomeranian Divisions, where traction crew changes take place at the Zduńska Wola Karsznice, Bydgoszcz Wschodnia Towarowa, and Zajączkowo Tczewskie stations. Trains with these parameters are dispatched after combining two trains of 2000 tonnes gross weight and 25 coal wagons each, which arrive separately at the Tarnowskie Góry marshalling yard with coal loads from the KWK Rydułtowy and KWK Jankowice sidings, serviced by the Company’s Upper Silesian Division.
– The execution of the first pilot runs of this type definitely confirms the validity of the adopted operational assumptions and the rationale behind this type of solution – says Witold Bawor, Member of the Management Board of PKP CARGO for Operations.
The use of this form of transport organization allows for a reduction in the average transit time to the destination station, faster wagon turnaround, and a decrease in the number of traction vehicles and traction crews involved; it also ensures savings in the quantity and time of traction service, as well as benefits related to fees for access to railway lines.
