On January 15, 2002, the first meeting of the Polish EAN-UCC System Council of the new term of office took place. In accordance with the newly developed and approved regulations at the meeting, the Council currently has 34 members, representing manufacturers, traders, IT and hardware companies operating for the EAN-UCC system, as well as government and scientific institutions.
The Council is an advisory and opinion-forming body regarding the functioning of the national EAN organization and represents all system participants in Poland.
Prof. dr hab. Andrzej Korzeniowski was re-elected as the Chairman of the Council, while Mr. Janusz Targosz, President of Jantar sp. z o.o., was elected as the Vice-Chairman.
At its first meeting, the Council approved the following main directions of work for EAN-Poland for 2002:
– implementation of the electronic catalog of products marked with EAN-UCC codes
– preparation of organizational and legal foundations for the implementation of RFID standards
– development of the concept for a multi-year e-economy development program
– preparation of the EPOKA electronic customer service platform
– development of the concept of industry solutions for logistical processes based on the EAN-UCC system and introducing them to the market.
