Schenker is expanding its logistics base in the Paris region of France and is building another modern logistics terminal in Gennevilliers, north of the French capital. The company already has four terminals in this area providing land and sea logistics services. The French headquarters of Schenker is also located there.
The new investment is being carried out at the port of Gennevilliers in Paris. Its advantages include a good location and proximity to the motorway, which facilitate logistics services for even very distant locations.
The terminal is being built near existing facilities, on an area of over 45,000 square meters. The transshipment area of the facility will be 11,000 square meters, and an additional 6,000 square meters will be used to provide logistics services, such as warehousing and other activities providing value-added services to customers. The company’s French headquarters will also be moved to the new offices located in the terminal. The planned date for the official opening is mid-April 2005. The terminal has been designed to handle hazardous materials. It will also meet the requirements of the TAPA certificate for the handling of high-value goods.
