New HUPAC terminal in Antwerp

New HUPAC terminal in AntwerpA modern HUPAC terminal was opened on January 26, 2010, at a cost of 22 million euros.

The facility covers an area of 53,000 square meters in close proximity to the port canal. The facility features 3 gantry cranes with a lifting capacity of 41 tons, a height of 13 meters, and a width of 40 meters. The cranes serve 5 sidings and 6 storage track lines (each 620 meters long). The terminal area also includes a warehouse and an office-operational building. Worth noting are the modern solutions for site drainage and water treatment, as well as automated and computerized processes related to terminal accessibility. An interesting business solution is the outsourcing of labor and the terminal site. The landowner and labor provider is DP World. HUPAC manages a total of 10 of its own terminals: Ede, Busto Arsizio-Gallarate, Oleggio, Desio, Novara Ralpin, Aarau, Basel, Chiasso, Singen, and Antwerp. This allows the operator full independence in Western Europe. HUPAC is a leader in transport operations across the Swiss Alps and one of the leading companies of this type in Europe. The company’s 440 employees handle 110 trains per day, which move between major economic areas of Europe and connect the largest European ports with the hinterland. Responding to market needs and implementing the European Commission’s policy, Hupac has invested nearly 200 million euros in intermodal solutions over 5 years.
