DHL Express (Poland) has launched a new terminal in Wałbrzych. Modern solutions and technologies, as well as the automation of sorting processes, bring tangible benefits to customers from the entire region. The opening of the terminal is another stage in the implementation of the company’s strategy, which assumes investments in the development of the national logistics network. The value of the Wałbrzych investment amounted to over 2.6 million EUR.

New DHL Express terminal in Wałbrzych is already delivering shipments

The new DHL Express terminal is one of the most modern facilities of this type in Wałbrzych. It was built in 150 working days, in accordance with corporate requirements applicable to DHL worldwide. It can handle up to 8,000 shipments per day, which is 350% more than the previous facility. A significant increase in handling capacity is provided by the implemented technological solutions, including an automatic sorter over 65 meters long with a capacity of 2,200 packages per hour. The terminal has 11 gates equipped with hydraulic ramps for handling trucks and 20 gates for delivery vans to handle courier parcel shipments. The warehouse hall area is 1,530 sq m. The office space occupies over 325 sq m. The opening of the new facility translates into tangible benefits for DHL Express customers. These include extended service hours by couriers. Thanks to the automation of the sorting process, couriers can start delivering shipments earlier and collect them later. The use of new monitoring technologies ensures full security of shipments. The number of shipments that the terminal can handle will also significantly increase. This is of great importance during so-called parcel peaks, e.g., during pre-holiday periods. DHL couriers are equipped with modern Motorola HC 700 portable scanners, thanks to which they can receive and send information online about the status of shipment collection orders and the current status of shipments being delivered. This information is visible in the DHL Express system, which allows for full control of the entire transport process. Customers can check the status of their shipment on the website www.dhl.com.pl or by phone at the Contact Center (042) 6 345 345. The convenient location of the terminal also contributes to improvements in customer service and the acceleration of the transport process. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone and right next to national road No. 35.

– What customers expect from us is speed, accuracy, and reliability. Thanks to a professional and committed team of employees and couriers, investments in the modernization of the national logistics network, and a comprehensive service offer, we can meet these expectations – said Tomasz Buraś, CEO of DHL Express (Poland). – The launch of a modern terminal in Wałbrzych is another important stage in the implementation of our investment plan. On one hand, we are responding to the business needs of customers in this region, and on the other, we are increasing the efficiency of customer service and the operational performance of the national system.

As part of the GoGreen eco-friendly strategy implemented by DHL Express, appropriate solutions have been implemented at the Wałbrzych terminal. These include waste segregation, gas heating, and a sewage discharge system to the municipal sewage system.
