– The decision to modernize the warehouse was business-justified. Thanks to it, we are able to fulfill more orders in the same amount of time. We are also confident that they are not only processed smoothly but also always reach the intended recipient – says Piotr Bieliński, CEO of ACTION SA.
A high-speed sorter (approx. 5,000 packages per hour) that distributes packages to individual carriers, modern forming equipment, and automated systems that print and insert all documents, such as invoices, into packages are just some of the solutions implemented as part of the warehouse modernization. A major upgrade in the new warehouse will be the picking robots, which sort goods into individual orders without human intervention. It is worth noting that they were installed during the daily operation of the logistics department. There will be two such robots in the ACTION SA warehouse, each capable of processing at least 1,500 orders per hour. In addition, manual picking stations equipped with electronic systems to support the process of preparing items for shipment have been introduced. Increasing the number of picking stations will also allow for an expansion of the product range by nearly 70 percent.
– The implemented logistics solutions and the expansion of our warehouse base allow us to broaden our shipping services for external clients. We are in talks with several potential contractors, including companies from the e-commerce market. In this business, minimizing the delivery time of a product to the end customer constitutes a competitive advantage. We should begin fulfilling the first contracts in the first half of 2010 – comments Piotr Bieliński.
The general contractor for the project is SSI SCHÄFER, a global leader in logistics solutions. To date, the company has reliably met the deadlines agreed upon in the contract.
