Losses are a cross-functional problem, and examples of poor management leading to losses can be found in most areas of an enterprise, e.g.:
– logistics managers do not follow procedures for receiving and shipping products
– operations managers allow products to be stored in locations that are difficult to supervise
– HR managers do not routinely screen new employees
– maintenance managers do not collaborate with architects to properly design the interior of a store or warehouse
– product designers do not provide sufficient protection for the product (packaging design)
– category managers do not correctly assign attributes to products
– sales managers overfill shelves, exposing products to damage.
The role and responsibility of security departments are usually very diverse – from health and safety issues to monitoring security companies. Some of these duties stem from a company’s statutory requirements, which is why failure to comply with these regulations is subject to penalties or fines.
