The goal of the meeting was to provide participants with practical knowledge on how to solve current problems that a company faces every day regarding typical warehousing functions, as well as during future sales forecasting, order placement, and ongoing monitoring and analysis of inventory levels. The participants – managers and specialists responsible for carrying out tasks in the area of warehousing and orders – had the opportunity not only to learn about the latest IT solutions and their effective and practical use, but also to talk in the sidelines with the speakers – outstanding specialists at the intersection of IT and logistics.

The first presentation was delivered by Jerzy Majewski, manager and lead implementer of many utilitarian consulting projects, as well as the creator of proprietary methodologies regarding the selection of IT solutions and preparing enterprises for their implementation. He presented a general outline of the use of IT systems in enterprises and explained the terms and nomenclature related to these systems.

Immediately after him, his lecture on the role and tasks of warehouses in modern supply chains was presented by Dr. Eng. Aleksander Niemczyk, Deputy Director of the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing for the Market.

Subsequent speakers – Marta Cudziło, Dawid Doliński, Piotr Sitarz, and Wiesław Stachowiak – told the audience in detail about the goals and problems of the inventory management area and supporting inventory management processes with IT systems.

At the end of the first part of the seminar, participants learned about metrics and indicators used to assess the degree of optimization of warehouse processes and the effectiveness of inventory management, as well as elements of data exchange between IT solutions for logistics and enterprise management IT systems. The second part of the seminar – the workshop part – allowed participants to familiarize themselves with the use of the previously learned systems in practice.
The meeting organized by the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing was also an excellent opportunity to present the latest edition of the bestselling book titled “Informatics for Logistics” by Jerzy Majewski. This book is already available in the “Logistics Library” series.
