In June, the company recorded its second-highest transport result in 2010. After the first half of the year, the company’s transport volumes amounted to 54.75 million tons and were 21.1% higher than in the corresponding period of 2009. Transport volumes in June were nearly one-fifth higher than a year earlier (8.42 million tons). Importantly, practically since February, PKP CARGO’s monthly transport results have been better than the plan for the given month accepted by the company’s management board. This was also the case in June, when transport volumes exceeded the plan by 3.6%. The company’s transport results after the first half of the year are also optimistic. From January to June 2010, the company transported 54.75 million tons of cargo, which is 21.1% more than in the first half of 2009 (45.21 million tons). After six months of the year, the surplus of transport realization in relation to the plan is 4%. Broken down by commodity groups, the largest increases in the first half of the year were recorded in the transport of ores and pyrites (an increase of 146%, to 1.88 million tons), coke and lignite (an increase of 101%, to 4.03 million tons), and artificial fertilizers (an increase of 47%, to 1.34 million tons). The transport of hard coal, which with a 46.3% share remains the dominant commodity group in the company’s transport structure, also increased by 19%, to 25.38 million tons.
