Immediately after this, the Matriculation Act of first-year students took place. Nearly 1,100 new students began their studies at the College of Logistics, which is a record number in the history of the university. During the inauguration, awards were presented to outstanding students as well as teaching and administrative staff. The inaugural lecture, “Risk and crises in 21st-century logistics,” was delivered by Dr. Eng. Wojciech Machowiak.
The 2006/2007 academic year began with 2,495 students, including 1,920 in bachelor’s degree programs and 575 in supplementary master’s degree programs. Adapting the university’s structure to current needs, the Faculty of Management and Logistics was established, which will provide education in two fields. The first of these is management. – We are already prepared to launch the second field – logistics. We are waiting for the decision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education – says the university’s press spokesperson, Wojciech Zalewski – WSL will be the first and only university in Poland to offer a degree in Logistics.
In the past academic year, the College of Logistics achieved significant results in many areas of operation. The university’s human resources potential grew, research and publishing activities were developed, the number of students increased, and study conditions improved significantly. WSL grants academic and sports scholarships, as well as social scholarships, for both full-time and part-time students. This year, in cooperation with the company Prologis, the tradition of awarding prizes for the best diploma theses has become a permanent part of the university’s life. An electronic lending library was also launched, and the possibility of reserving and ordering books through the Student Internet Platform was created.
