Goodman invests near Krakow

Goodman Group has announced the acquisition of a 31.5-hectare plot of land in Modlniczka, near Krakow. The acquisition of this land follows the strategy of creating a land bank in Poland and is part of the company’s largest logistics project in Poland.

Goodman will build 157,988 sqm of high-quality warehouse space on the strategically located site. The land, previously used by the Military Property Agency, was acquired from the Wielka Wieś municipality. The group will spend 80 million euros on the development of the site.

After preparing the site for investment, Goodman plans to build warehouse space for lease, including office and social facilities, intended for storage and distribution, and even light production. The first phase of the investment will include the construction of 18,508 sqm of warehouse space. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2008 and be completed in the autumn of 2008.

Modlniczka is located close to Silesia – the most significant industrial region and consumer market in Poland. The acquired site is located just 1 kilometer from the Krakow city limits, 3 km from the Krakow Balice International Airport, and 500 meters from the planned Krakow ring road.

The attractiveness of the location is enhanced by its proximity to the Czech Republic and Ukraine, as well as good connections to Germany via the A4 motorway, located 1 kilometer from the investment, which connects Krakow with Katowice (60 km) and Wroclaw (260 km). The nearby Special Economic Zone and the Krakow Technology Park, which houses properties of international clients such as Philip Morris and Volvo, underscore the logistical importance of these lands.
