Gillette Group Poland and DHL Logistics have jointly opened a high-bay warehouse in Dąbrowa Górnicza – one of the largest Gillette product distribution centers in Europe. It will supply Gillette customers from the entire Central European region, i.e., Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary, as well as distributor markets in Africa and Asia.
– We chose Poland because of its geographical location, market size, and operating conditions for foreign investors – said John Jensen, Value Chain Director at Gillette Group Poland. – This is another step in our strategy to strengthen our presence in Poland, as part of which we are currently building a modern complex of production, packaging, and warehouse facilities in Łódź at a cost of 120 million euros.
Gillette has been cooperating with DHL Logistics since 1999. Until now, the cooperation included storing goods in a warehouse in Łódź and distributing them in Poland and to markets in the Middle and Far East and the former Yugoslavia. The new three-year agreement between Gillette and DHL Logistics guarantees cooperation in the scope of full logistics services. The value of the DHL Logistics investment will amount to approximately 2.5 million euros. Within the warehouse, in addition to standard goods storage services, DHL Logistics will offer additional services, such as kitting, labeling, repacking products for the needs of individual retail chains, special packaging of products for promotional purposes, wrapping products in PVC film, and heat sealing. The warehouse will eventually employ over 200 people.
